CRANE SONG PRODUCT LIMITED WARRANTY AND REGISTRATION:
All Crane Song hardware is covered by a limited warranty against defects in
materials and workmanship for a
period of two (2) years from the original date of purchase, to the original
purchaser, provided the purchaser
registers the unit with Crane Song within 30 days of the original purchase
date.
During the warranty period Crane Song will repair the unit and provide a credit
for shipping to cover but not
exceed the cost of insured ground transportation in the U.S. and expedited
transportation for international
shipments (to be determined by Crane Song in both instances). The customer
would be responsible for any
costs exceeding this credit if the customer chooses an alternate method of
insured shipping for the unit. Crane
Song will not pay for express or overnight freight service. Charges for unauthorized
service and transportation
costs beyond the above-defined shipping credit are not reimbursable
under this warranty.
All warrantees expressed or implied become null and void where the product
has been damaged by misuse,
accident, neglect, modification, and tampering or unauthorized alteration
by anyone other than Crane Song or a
Crane Song authorized representative. If a unit is received under warranty
for repair and after complete examination
and testing no problem is found with the unit, customer can at Crane Songs
discretion be charged for one hour
of labor plus return shipping costs.
The manufacturer assumes no liability for property damage or any other incidental
or consequential damage
whatsoever which may result from failure of this product. Any and all warrantees
implied by law are limited to the
duration of the expressed warranty. All warrantees apply only to Crane Song
hardware purchased from an
authorized Crane Song dealer. Grey Market purchases are not covered
by any warranty.
If a Crane Song product fails during the warranty period the purchasers
remedy shall be to obtain a Return
Authorization (RMA) from Crane Song Tech Support and return the product to
Crane Song, where the defect will
be repaired without charge for parts and labor.
All returns to Crane Song must be in the original packing, accompanied by
the Return Authorization (RMA), and
must be shipped to Crane Song. Customer may or may not be charged for new
factory original packaging if
customer fails to ship product to Crane Song in the original factory packaging.
In the event that a Crane Song product must be returned from outside the USA,
Crane Song will not be responsible
for transportation costs (beyond the shipping credit), customs
fees, or taxes related to any importation or reexportation
charges, or other un-addressed costs associated with sending the unit to Crane
Song for repair or
returning the unit to its owner whatsoever.
Proper registration is made by filling out and returning the warranty/registration
card along with a copy of the
original sales receipt as proof of the original date of purchase. Registration
can also occur by providing the
warranty/registration card information via email to techsupport@cranesong.net.
Once received, tech support
will confirm back to the customer receipt of their registration. If the registration
is not confirmed within two (2)
business days the customer must assume the email was not received and contact
Crane Song again to verify
their unit registration.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STC-8
AND TRAKKER
AKA-- IS THE TRAKKER A MONO (OR ONE CHANNEL) VERSION
OF THE STC-8? NO!
STC-8 is a very transparent compressor
/ limiter.
Trakker is a "color"
compressor. NO limiter.
Actually, the STC-8 was built to be a no-compromise, transparent compressor/limiter
(for buss compression or mastering) while the Trakker is more of a production
(read - color) tool.
They are two radically different designs: The STC-8 has dual sidechains (operates as a compressor and a separate limiter at the same time) while the Trakker uses a single sidechain design. The Trakker has faster and slower attack and release times available. Both units have 16 presets available (though the Trakker is more color oriented in its presets).
Up to 8 Trakkers can be linked together. The STC-8 has a jumper and variable pot built in to it to be used with HEDD so the limiter will kick in to catch the occasional "over" before it happens.
Two very different beasts, really.
??????????????????????????????????????
If you are interested in "upgrading"
or changing your STC-8 to sometype of detend version ("H" or "M").
H = detented gain controls --- M = fully detented.
Here are serial number for older units:
It is the first 100 that can not be upgraded to a "H",
though they can be
upgraded to a "M". I believe the serial numbers would be
L682791-L682890.

Where can I try units?
Our dealers do all the demoing or auditioning of the product line. Please
contact our dealers or try one of the rental
companies.
Can you use the HEDD convertors (A/D and D/A) simultaneously?
YES, The convertors can operate
at different sample rates at the same time.
The front panel controls allow the user to select input source (analog, digital,
AES or SPDIF).
Is this "simultaneous" function JUST for
the HEDD 192 version?
NO, The function was/is available in ALL version of HEDD.
??????????????????????????
HEDD upgrade informationIs the "version 1" HEDD upgradable to the 192 version?
Sorry to say - NO. Due to the tape knob process this emulation makes the circuit
board layout and front panel
a whole different design.
Does the HEDD 192, do 192 samples rates?
As of late June/early July 2006, units are shipping with 192 convertors (both
D/A and A/D and 192 software/firmware!
update july 2006
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the cost of the 192 upgrade?
UPDATE Nov. 14, 2006
The cost of the UPGRADE is $198.00 per section or $398.00 (US funds) plus
shipping
Please e-mail Scott to get more information.
Will I have to send the HEDD 192 to Crane Song for the upgrade?
Dave designed the HEDD 192 so that even I could make the upgrade. Meaning
that anyone could do it.
Please remember, in theory that's our plan.
UPDATE AUG. 27, 2005.
First, Crane Song needs to know what REVISION of the MAIN circuit board you
have.
For you to find this information - Here
is a pdf file to you. Once it's know what "REV #" you have,
Crane Song will sent you the upgrade info
Please e-mail Scott to get more information
